How Permanent Eyebrows Can Help You

Permanent eyebrows help women and men whose eyebrow hair is lightly colored, thin in places, sparse overall, or nonexistent. Eyebrow hair loss can result from years of tweezing or waxing, medical conditions (e.g. scars or Alopecia), or medications (e.g. Chemotherapy). Eyebrow tattoos eliminate the daily use of pencils or powders to fill-in, reshape, or recolor brows. Eyebrow shape, thickness, color, density, height, balance, and symmetry can be corrected once and for all with eyebrow tattooing to improve the attractiveness of a person’s face. Eyebrows “frame” the eyes and are a reference point that determines how facial features are perceived. The appropriate eyebrow shape and size can appear to lift a person’s eyes creating a more youthful appearance. Properly designed eyebrows can balance the distance between eyes or modify the look of prominent or deeply set eyes. A good eyebrow design can also make cheekbones appear more defined and influence the perception of the person’s nose size.

    Eyebrow Tattoo Options

Eyebrow Enhancement: This procedure is for people with thin, partial, or very light eyebrows. It supplements existing eyebrow hair to improve shape, thickness, arch, or balance. Also, bald spots or bare sections can be hidden or filled-in. For the most natural look, Kelly uses a simulated hair stroke technique to create “hairs.” She can also achieve a soft shaded or powdery look.

Preparing for Your Procedure Appointment You should allow at least 2 to 3 hours for your initial procedure. If you usually shape your brows by tweezing, shaving, threading, or waxing, you should do so a few days before your appointment. You should stop taking any blood-thinning products 3 days before (e.g. aspirin, alcohol, fish oils) unless prescribed by your physician. You should also wear your eyebrow pencil or powder for style evaluation and bring it with you for color matching. Additional preparation guidelines will be given to you when the procedure appointment is scheduled at your consultation.

    At Your Permanent Eyebrow Procedure

Kelly will analyze your face shape, features, and eyebrows including their symmetry (evenness). Kelly will create symmetry and pencil different designs so you can see what you like best. Together you will select color, and then she will apply a topical anesthetic to numb your eyebrows. Afterward she will re-create your custom design as the pattern to follow during the tattooing process. Anesthetics will be applied during the procedure for your comfort. Before and after photos will be taken for your confidential file and your pigment colors will be recorded for future reference.

    After Your Permanent Eyebrow Procedure

Immediately after the procedure, your eyebrows will be darker than you want. There will be some mild swelling and redness that will clear in a day or two. The color will lighten quickly during the first week, then gradually soften and stabilize over the next few weeks. During the first week of healing, your eyebrows will be dark and a little shiny from applying ointments. You must also avoid swimming, saunas, and the sun, so you should keep this in mind when scheduling your procedure. To minimize any chance of an allergic reaction or infection at home, Kelly will give you detailed after care instructions.

    Follow-up and Maintenance Appointments

Your eyebrow color will gradually lighten and stabilize in the weeks following your procedure. If they heal lighter than you want, they can be darkened with a second application at a follow-up visit (“touch-up”). You may need a follow-up to adjust shape or add color to areas that healed lighter from tissue swelling or bleeding during the tattooing process. Ideally, your second visit should be completed between 4 to 8 weeks post procedure. Because permanent makeup can fade over time, you can schedule maintenance visits every few years to keep your color looking fresh. These visits are typically shorter and less expensive if the original work was done by Kelly.

  • Eyeliner

    Benefits of Eyeliner Tattooing

Permanent eyeliner or eyelash enhancement helps women and men enhance the appearance of their eyes. It eliminates the need to outline eyelids with liquid liners or pencils and improves the appearance of missing, thin, or light colored lashes. Permanent eyeliner allows people to swim, shower, or exercise without having makeup smudges. It provides safety and convenience to people with oily skin, vision problems, or unsteady hands. Eye doctors (Ophthalmologists and Optometrists) also recommend permanent eyeliner to patients who wear contact lenses, have watery eyes, or are allergic to regular makeup.

Eyeliner “frames” the eyes and can make eyelashes appear darker, fuller, or thicker. It can enhance the shape or balance (symmetry) of a person’s eyes, create the illusion of larger eyes, or affect how the spacing of the eyes is perceived. Eyeliner can also enhance or intensify eye color and make eyes appear more alluring.

    Eyeliner Tattoo Techniques

Eyelash Base Enhancement: This method is for people who want an extremely natural look. Pigment is tattooed only in the skin at the base of eyelashes in-between their rows. No obvious line is drawn beyond the last row of lashes. This causes the eyelash base to appear darker and fuller and frames the eye without the look of having eyeliner.

Full Eyeliner (Top, Bottom, or Both):

This method creates a line above the last row of eyelashes (on upper liner) or below the last row (on lower liner) to add depth to the eyes. The width of the line can be thin, medium, or thick. Each full eyeliner procedure includes an eyelash base enhancement to complete the look. Designer eyeliner can also be created by adding a layer of color(s) or a “smudged” effect.

    Preparing for Your Procedure Appointment

You should allow at least 3 hours for your initial procedure. If you wear contact lenses, you will not be able to wear them for 24-48 hours after your procedure. You must be fully healed after any eye surgery (e.g. LASIK) before your appointment. You must stop using any eyelash growth product (like Latisse) at least one month prior. Additional specific preparation guidelines will be given to you when you schedule your eyeliner procedure.

    After Your Procedure

Your eyelids will be slightly red, mildly swollen, and a little tender immediately after your procedure. This will go away within a few days. At first your eyeliner will look darker and thicker than you want, but it will lighten and soften after healing. You cannot wear mascara or eye shadow during the first week of healing and will you will applying ointments, so please keep this in mind when scheduling your procedure. You will receive detailed after care instructions in a complete kit with prescription ophthalmic products at no additional cost.

    Follow-up and Maintenance Appointments

Your eyeliner will lighten and soften after healing. Since it is always best to be conservative, if your eyeliner heals lighter or thinner than you desire, it can be darkened or thickened at your follow-up visit (second application). Ideally, your follow-up should be completed 4 to 6 weeks post procedure. Because permanent makeup can fade over time, you can schedule maintenance visits every few years to keep your color looking fresh.

  • Lips

How Permanent Lip Liner and Lip Color Can Help You

Permanent lip liner and color can improve the appearance of lips for women and men. It helps lips appear more defined without surgery or fillers and restores color to lips that are too pale. Permanent lip liner eliminates the daily use of pencils to outline, fill-in, or reshape lip borders. Permanent lip color decreases the need to reapply lipstick or lip gloss. Lip tattooing helps correct and balance the symmetry of lips that are uneven, too thin, too thick, or scarred. It can also enhance the natural color and shape of “perfect” lips.

    Lip Shape, Design, and Color

Lips are an important beauty feature of the mouth. They form a smile and show emotions. They help “frame” a person’s teeth and determine attractiveness. When lips are well shaped and balanced, they align with the center of a person’s face and have even sides. The upper lip and lower lip should match and should be equally proportioned. A flattering Cupid’s bow (the top “points” of the upper lip) is one that is not too flat, pointy, or rounded.

    Lip Tattoo Techniques

Blended Lip Liner: This method is for anyone who wants a lip liner that appears soft. Kelly creates a liner on the lip border and then shades it inward slightly so it appears as if the person’s lipstick has been eaten-off. This technique is more attractive than a lip liner by itself (plain line) which can appear harsh and unnatural. Uneven lip borders can be balanced with this procedure.

Full Lip Color With Liner:This method is for anyone who wants the appearance of wearing lipstick with a defined lip line. Kelly first creates a liner on the lip border then implants color inward throughout the fleshy part of the lips. When healed, lip gloss can be worn alone or different colors of lipstick can be applied on top. Uneven lip size can be adjusted by tattooing just outside or inside of the edges of the lips to balance thickness. Uneven lip borders can also be balanced with this procedure.

    • If needed use an pain reliever after the numbing agent has worn off.
    • A gentle cleanser is recommended daily.

3-4 days: Apply A& D or Vaseline every 4 to 6 hours and avoid excessive water.

After 4 days: Don’t apply anything and try to avoid water (This stage your tattoo will become scrap. With a contact of water, your skin will cracked and it will make pigment unevenly) DO NOT PICK!!!

    • The first week…
    • Brow, eyeliner, and lip pigment will be very vivid in color!
    • Don’t be alarmed… you will lose at least 50% of color.
    • You will then have concern that the color has now ALL come off.
    • Don’t worry… the color enhancement will be subtle, youthful and natural looking after 4 weeks of healing.

After the first week… Excess sloughing of healed skin and excess pigment is expected. Procedure will appear much light. Remember… 4 WEEKS of healing is usual before full color can be judged on eyes. Lip procedures require 6 WEEKS of healing before color can be judged. TWO WEEKS minimum are necessary to achieve a desirable result.
